About

Our Engineering Lens

Parcelbribubblyottr is an independent editorial project. We explain how parcels are protected for people who pack them every day and people who design what goes inside.

Hazards first, materials second

Most packaging advice starts with a product list: buy this foam, that tape, those mailers. We start the other way round. A parcel's journey defines what it must survive, so we describe drops, vibration, compression and climate first, then show which structures and materials answer each hazard. Protection is a system in which the box, cushioning, barriers and closures work together.

How we write

We aim for calm, precise explanations. Engineering terms are translated rather than avoided, because the terms carry meaning: static loading, edge crush and vapour transmission all describe real behaviour. Where we reference standards from ISTA, ASTM International, TAPPI, ISO or FEFCO, we describe their purpose in plain language and encourage readers to consult the official documents before relying on them.

Editorial noteWe are not a laboratory, a carrier or a packaging supplier. We do not sell materials or accept payment for recommendations.

Who we write for

Small dispatch teams who want fewer damage claims without doubling material use. Product designers who want to consider the shipping journey early, when changes are cheap. Students and curious readers who wonder why a box is shaped the way it is.

Corrections

If you spot an error or have field experience that challenges something we have written, please write to the bench. We review corrections and update pages where the evidence supports it.
